If you’re a conscious consumer who appreciates quality products, then look no further. Real.M (Real Material) will provide all your eco-friendly needs. A brand that not only cares for the environment but of design too. They’re known for their lush beach towels and warm scarves, but this time around they’re venturing into the world of apparel. Their new ready-to-wear apparel line is soft to the touch with the main component of their fabric coming from bamboos and cotton!
If you have never owned any clothing or fabrics made out of bamboo, here’s the skinny on it:
Considered a renewable resource, bamboo is easy to grow and can grow up to 23 meters in a year! The result is a fiber that feels like a cloud and is soft and cool to the touch. It is extremely durable and has hypoallergenic and antimicrobial properties. It doesn’t require replanting so it’s not surprising that bamboo is used for luxury towels, bedding, and linen. And now the clothes! — With the cooling material of Bamboo silk, you have no reason to worry about melting in the infamous Malaysian heat.
The clothes have a very unique feel to them, therefore it only made sense to think outside the box for their lookbook. For their latest lookbook, we provided our expertise in styling and art direction. The inspiration behind the lookbook was a relaxed summer mixed with desert vibes. We played around a lot with natural elements to bring forth the natural elements found in the actual garments. For example, since the products contain bamboo and cotton, we’ve created a makeshift hanging rail out of bamboo for the clothes to hang on during the shoot. Aside from bamboo sticks, we also played around with large palm leaves. In order to achieve the dusty summer desert vibes, we spray painted them bronze.
In addition to that, the whole lookbook experience was made possible with the photographic talent of Syazwan Asyraf. The man truly knows his angles. We were ecstatic when we found out that a talent like himself was interested in doing a collaboration with us. To top it all off, the founders of Real.M, sisters, Atiyya and Najmia modeled for the lookbook themselves. Their young and inspiring vision is sure to come through in the latest Real.M lookbook.
